I’m sure many of us have seen replicas before. Most often, they come in the form of bags. I’m talking about a knockoff designer bag with a counterfeit label. Initially I was fascinated with these fake bags; I mean what’s not to love? The price was great and they look almost identical to the original designer bag. Some might not see it as a big deal, but for me it seemed like a great way to have a designer bag without the huge cost.
Unfortuntely, these fake bags don’t last. This was an expensive lesson for me because I had bought one of these bags thinking I was getting a great deal. But what looked like a great replica turned out to be a major disappointment. Little details like the stitching quality, the signs of wear or the color fading revealed that it was a cheap knock off.
Since then, I’ve learned to be more careful when I’m buying a designer bag. I always make sure that it comes from the actual designer store, never from a back alley merchant. I even do some research online to see what the original bag looks like, so that I’m not fooled by imitation.
Another way to tell if it’s an authentic bag is to check the details – the texture of the material, the type of locking system and the physical features. This usually means that it will cost more than the knockoffs, but at least I can be sure that it’s the real deal!
